Wild Wind Folk Art & Craft Festival on September 11 & 12

When “tailgaters” begin to arrive at the annual Wild Wind Folk Art and Craft Festival two hours before the gates open, armed with chairs, hot coffee and donuts, it’s obvious that this must be an event worth waiting for! Wild Wind 2010 will undoubtedly see the same eager crowds gathered at the entrance on Saturday, September 11.  The Festival opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. each day. If you attend on Saturday, you may return on Sunday free of charge. Adult tickets are $6, Seniors $4 and children 12 and under are free of charge. There is plenty of free parking and reserved areas for the handicapped. Knowing that most people are now opting to find their entertainment closer to home, the Wild Wind Festival is committed to providing a reasonably priced, fun filled weekend for all ages. The show goes on rain or shine since most exhibits are under cover. Once again, the organizers have managed to put together an outstanding show featuring 150 juried exhibitors from across the country who will display their fanciful and functional wares throughout the grounds.  Lovers of crafts and folk art will not be disappointed. Many buyers manage to finish their Christmas shopping at the show, carrying their purchases to their cars and coming back for more! Demonstrators will display their skills in blacksmithing, chainsaw carving, wood carving, spinning and pottery making. There will be plenty to do to keep the kids busy, including the ever popular exotic animal zoo, bird of prey exhibit and lectures and wagon and pony rides. In addition there will be the usual array of delectable food booths that offer hungry shoppers a huge variety of meal choices. The famous pie booth opens early and many choose this for breakfast along with a hot cup of coffee. You can sit comfortably under the shade trees in the picnic area while listening to live folk music. It doesn’t get better than that on a beautiful September weekend.
